Welcome To The New Masonic Year
Brethren of Blendon Lodge,
Welcome to the new Masonic year!
As the newly elected and installed Master of Blendon Lodge, I feel that it is important to share with you some insight on the coming year, and the needs of the lodge as we move through the next several months.
Stated Meeting Changes:
Beginning with our meeting on December 3rd, 2007 we will be instituting some changes to our stated meetings.
1) Our social hour / refreshment will begin at 6:30PM, rather than after the stated meetings. We are trying this change as we feel that it would provide a better opportunity for the brethren to gather as friends and to provide a time to invite prospective members to meet with us to learn more about our organization and its functions.
2) We will be providing printed copies of the previous meeting(s) minutes for your review prior to the stated meeting. This will allow us to move quicker in the execution of the business portion of our meetings. We will still ask for any additions, deletions or corrections to those printed minutes.
2008 Important Dates and Events:
As many of you already know, 2008 represents the 200th anniversary of Freemasonry in Ohio. As such, there are many events planned throughout the year that your officers will be attending. Please be aware that we desire and are encouraging your participation in these events.
One such event is the re-dedication of the Statehouse Cornerstone and Parade scheduled for June 21st. Continue to look for more information on this and other events as we move through the next several months.
In April of 2008, we will have the honor of opening and closing lodge for the annual ‘Masonic Night at the Shrine’. Please join us for this event as it is a wonderful opportunity to honor and support one of our own members.
We are currently planning two dinner events and a Masonic Movie Night that will be open to the public. These events will be the primary sources of ‘donation gathering’ in support of the Special Olympics for this year. They represent an opportunity to re-engage with our community and each other while supporting a worthy cause.
Annual Inspection:
Our annual inspection will be held in the EA degree on the night of Monday, February 25th, 2008. As always, your attendance and support is appreciated.
Lodge Participation Needs:
Last, but certainly not least, I am personally soliciting your participation at our stated meetings, ritual specials and other events. Over the past several years all lodges have been impacted by dwindling membership and participation. Blendon Lodge is no exception to that trend. The past year has brought many changes to the officer line and many changes in the number of faces available to participate on a regular basis.
Due to this reality, I am also asking that anyone who has an interest in participating more fully with the lodge to please contact me or one of the other current officers to express that interest. Your lodge needs qualified and interested members in its officer line and in the support and planning of its special events and ritual work.
Without you, we cannot succeed.
Fraternally,
The Officers of Blendon Lodge
